'You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth' Khalil Gibran.
I don't really think there's a lot to say about this week's Living Arrows photograph except where can we buy a free standing hammock! This is my all time favourite picture of Iris so far as it truly captures her enthusiastic spirit and looking at this picture I can hear her enormous, roaring laugh.
This was taken at my Nan and Grandad's 60th Wedding Anniversary party that we held at my Auntie's house. We adhered to the numbers and the protocols set by the government so no rules were broken but I still felt a little guilty. It was emotional to have all the extended family together again, I felt very blessed that we've all made it through so far, especially Grandad as he contracted Covid last year and was very ill and has never really been the same since. My grandad (on the left) is the eldest of four brothers (five in reality, but sadly Uncle Mike died) and it was so lovely to get them all together for a photo (begrudgingly and perhaps more trouble than it was worth lol). These pandemic times have been rough and as a close knit family that loves nothing more than a knees up it's been difficult but looking at this photo I can see why we've stayed apart and been as restricted as we have- it's so we can have moments like this. So we can all see each other again, the sacrifices are worth it. If the new delta variant really takes hold and we lock down again then so be it. The few hours we spent all together has re-built are reserves so we can power through without each other if we need to because getting together after all the months of isolation has been all the sweeter.
