'You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth' Khalil Gibran.
Sometimes it really is like looking in a mirror. They say the 'apple never falls far from the tree' and usually it's being used in a negative context but I don't think there's anything wrong with being like your parents. My mum has always been a reader, I grew up with my nose constantly in a book and it seems Iris is heading the same way.
I remember when she was a few weeks old and we were establishing our bath, book, bed routine and we didn't have any books to read so I read her the Boots Christmas catalogue. I just knew that I needed to read to her, that she needed that rhythmic, soothing sound of my voice. We read every night and several times a day, her vocabulary is outstanding and I credit that to the love of reading that's been passed down through the generations.
This week's picture was taken on a rainy bank holiday at Nannan and Papa's caravan. The whole family spent so much time reading. Me and Mum read every night when Iris was asleep. This picture shows Iris reading us a story (with Papa's glasses on!). I love hearing her read and I hope that one day she discovers the joy of queuing at midnight for a new book like I did!
Thanks for reading.
Sending love to all of you whose children are back at school this week. May you enjoy the hot cuppa and your children return safe and happy.

How cute does she look?! One of the favourite things I've inspired in the children is a love of reading. It's something that has always been a big love of mine and I'm so glad the children love reading too. Iris looks like she really does love reading too x
