'You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth' Khalil Gibran.
The fair's in town! When I was a teenager the fair was the place to be, we spent hours stood around the waltzer making eyes at boys. I have such fond (and rather cringey) memories of the fair and now I get to add a new set of memories as a parent!
I wasn't really keen on the idea of taking Iris to the fair, she is only a year old and it seemed like a silly idea to introduce her to it so young when we could get away with a few more years of her not knowing it exists but then I thought about how much she would love the lights, how much she loves music and how the combination of the two will excite and enthrall her so we headed to the fair with every intention of just looking....

During our visit to the fair I realised how important these traditions are to us, how exciting nostalgia can feel and how blessed we are to be able to repeat the things our parents did with us with our own children. My personal highlight was seeing my parents step into the role of grandparents- watching them become to Iris what my grandparents are to me.

This is so lovely, there's something really special about seeing your children enjoy things you loved as a child isn't there. x #LivingArrows
ReplyDeleteAww, I bet she had a lovely time. We took our boys to the fair in our town for the first time this summer - I think their favourite part was the donuts! #LivingArrows
